Liverpool city council is leading the
project and has signed Sainsbury's
up as the retail partner. However,
Tesco had originally been in talks
with developer St Modwen and has
brought legal action to try to
proceed with its own plans in the
area. Planners rejected Tesco’s
plan for a standalone scheme but
Tesco is now seeking a judicial
review to challenge the legal battle
it lost. A final decision is expected
shortly and it is hoped that work
will commence soon.
