Mission Statement

'To Support and enable the local community to develop their own future’

We are an established social enterprise who, Since formation in 1992 have created an impressive track record in assisting people into employment and enterprise by operating a range of advisory and training initiatives.

Over the past twelve years, our organisation has helped 4,000 people into employment and self-employment.

EDT is wholly community owned and led. We are not connected to any statutory bodies and are headed by a twelve person board comprising of representatives of voluntary sector organisations, local neighbourhood organisations, the local residential community and the business sector. Our organisation has attracted funding from sources including City Challenge, SRB, ESF, Urban, DfEE, Sainsburys, Kellogs and BT and has conducted commercial work for the Chamber of Commerce, North Liverpool JET and Business Link.

The economic decline of Merseyside over the years has contributed to high unemployment and a range of other economic, environmental and social problems across the whole of the county. However, the most severe unemployment problems in the European Union are concentrated in a number of localities; The North Liverpool area is one of the worst affected with unemployment as high as 40%. It is in communities such as North Liverpool, that the long-term unemployed face exclusion from the labour market.

Our offices are located in Everton, a neighborhood in the heart of North Liverpool. We are experienced and equipped to deal with the issues of social exclusion that our community continues to face.
